Sustainability
Duetorrihotels promotes a sustainable model of tourism through a project involving suppliers, employees and guests, with the goal of encouraging active and informed participation.
This pathway, set in motion more than a decade ago, is based on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, and is pursued through a structured and continually evolving approach, which aims to meet modern challenges and provide a responsible contribution to the context in which the Group operates.
The main actions undertaken include selecting local suppliers, using energy from renewable sources, reducing the use of plastic, and adopting separate waste collection for recycling, with the goal of minimising the Group's environmental impact and reducing its carbon footprint.
Independent certification according to GSTC standards
GSTC CERTIFICAtion
The Duetorrihotels Group is pleased to announce that its four luxury properties have obtained the international GSTC certification, globally recognised for sustainable tourism.
The certification was issued by Vireo, an accredited independent body, according to the standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni” in Bologna, Due Torri Hotel in Verona, Hotel Bristol Palace in Genoa and Hotel Bernini Palace in Florence have obtained this important recognition, confirming the Group’s concrete commitment to responsible practices that respect the environment, local communities and the surrounding area.
about us
Duetorrihotels was founded in 2010, consolidating a hotel management journey begun back in 1995. It was in 2010, however, that the Group saw significant expansion with the addition of three prestigious structures: the Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni”, a five-star luxury hotel in Bologna; the Due Torri Hotel, a five-star luxury hotel in Verona; and the Bernini Palace Hotel, a five-star hotel in Florence.
Following the path undertaken in years prior, respect for people, a focus on the environment and maximising use of local suppliers have become key elements in the Group's identity.
In 2012 the Hotel Bristol Palace was added to the portfolio; this five-star hotel in Genoa immediately shared Duetorrihotels’s management and value-based structure.
our values
The foundational values of Duetorrihotels are based on respect for individuals, employees, guests and suppliers, on transparent relationships, and continuity of commitments. Added to this is a commitment to continuous improvement, working with partners able to stimulate innovation and growth, and compliance with rules and regulations.
CODE OF ETHICS
Duetorrihotels is committed to ensuring equal and equitable treatment within the organisation, through inclusive policies and practices which develop and make the most of its human capital.
The Group condemns all forms of exploitation, harassment or discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, ability or other personal conditions.
In support of these principles, the Group has adopted a Code of Ethics Which defines the values and guidelines for corporate activities, and is accessible to all employees through internal channels and a dedicated document.
OUR AFFINITY FOR THE LOCAL AREA
Duetorrihotels actively promotes links with local areas in which it operates, through cultural initiatives and events which help promote and expand its identity and vitality.
The activities organised include publishing presentations and awards for young talent, held in each city in accordance with the specifics of the local area: the Premio Morandi in Bologna, given to young painters inspired by the expressive research of Giorgio Morandi; the Premio Casarini in Verona, dedicated to emerging artists in dialogue with the tradition of Veronese frescoes; the Premio Paganini in Genoa, given to young violinists in homage to Niccolò Paganini; and the BTO Women Bernini Award in Florence, a prestigious recognition honouring female talent, innovation, and leadership in tourism, journalism, and craftsmanship.
The Group also takes part in the FAI days promoted by the FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the National Trust for Italy), supports charity initiatives such as AIRC, and maintains open dialogue with local organisations, welcoming proposals and partnerships.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE AND WHAT WE WILL BE DOING FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Duetorrihotels has, over time, undertaken a concrete sustainability pathway, through the adoption of solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its activities.
The main actions include the introduction of LED lighting systems, the progressive replacement of disposable products in rooms with dispensers, and the use of cutting-edge heating systems. A strong focus is also placed on the supply chain: linen providers are selected on the basis of environmental certifications, while the water provided to guests is packaged in Tetrapak cartons with plant-based caps. The hotels in Florence and Genoa have also introduced magnetic cards made with plant-based materials to replace the traditional plastic cards.
HOW WE INVOLVE GUESTS
Actively involving people represents a core element of Duetorrihotels’ sustainability pathway. The project starts out with employees, through a process of sharing and raising awareness which allows us to communicate responsible conduct to guests, facilitating active participation in protecting the environment. The goal is to promote a guest experience in which all residents can contribute to protecting the local area in a natural and informed manner.
